Abstract
An method and apparatus for efficiently querying a service manager are provided. The method includes running a thread that includes a common object request broker architecture (CORBA) request. The request includes a structured query language string. The request, including the structured query language string, is forwarded to the service manager.
Claims16
A method of querying a service manager comprising:
- running a thread comprising a common object request broker architecture (CORBA) request that includes a structured query language (SQL) string, and
- forwarding the request to the service manager;
- iteratively receiving information that matches at least one parameter of the SQL string,
- wherein the thread further comprises a timeout module that waits for a response from the service manager for a predetermined period of time after the request is forwarded, and
- wherein the timeout module stops the waiting when no response is received from the service manager during the predetermined period of time.
An apparatus for querying a service manager in a telecommunications network, the apparatus comprising:
- a processor that runs a thread comprising a common object request broker architecture
- (CORBA) request that includes a structured query language (SQL) string, and
- a memory that stores an operating system for the apparatus,
- wherein the apparatus forwards the request to the service manager,
- wherein the apparatus iteratively receives information that matches at least one parameter of the SQL string,
- wherein the thread further comprises a timeout module that waits for a response from the service manager for a predetermined period of time after the request is forwarded, and
- wherein the timeout module stops the waiting when no response is received from the service manager during the predetermined period of time.
A system for querying a service manager in a telecommunications network and implemented on at least one processor having a storage, the system comprising:
- a client that runs a thread comprising a common object request broker architecture (CORBA) request that includes a structured query language (SQL) string;
- and
- a service manager that receives the request from the client,
- wherein the client iteratively receives information that matches at least one parameter of the SQL string,
- wherein the thread further comprises a timeout module that waits for a response from the service manager for a predetermined period of time after the request is forwarded, and
- wherein the timeout module stops the waiting when no response is received from the service manager during the predetermined period of time.
A computer readable storage medium for storing a computer program, recorded on the computer readable storage medium, that queries a service manager, the computer readable storage medium comprising:
- a thread running code segment, recorded on the computer readable storage medium, that runs a thread comprising a common object request broker architecture (CORBA) request that includes a structured query language (SQL) string;
- a request forwarding code segment, recorded on the computer readable storage medium, that forwards the request to the service manager;
- an information receiving code segment, recorded on the computer readable storage medium, that iteratively receives information that matches at least one parameter of the SQL string;
- a response waiting code segment, recorded on the computer readable storage medium, that waits for a response from the service manager for a predetermined period of time;
- and
- a wait stopping code segment, recorded on the computer readable storage medium, that stops the waiting when no response is received from the service manager during the predetermined period of time.
