Adjustable dual-band link

A system, comprising:

• a first communication channel having a channel response that includes at least a first notch;
• a first integrated circuit coupled to the first communication channel, the first integrated circuit to send a first data stream over a baseband sub-channel in the first communication channel and a second data stream over a passband sub-channel in the first communication channel, the baseband sub-channel and the passband sub-channel being separated from each other by a guardband of frequencies corresponding to the first notch;
• and
• a second integrated circuit coupled to the first communication channel, the second integrated circuit to receive the first data stream and the second data stream from the baseband sub-channel and the passband sub-channel, respectively, and to generate a third data stream having a symbol rate higher than a symbol rate of either the first data stream or the second data stream, the third data stream including data in the first data stream and the second data stream.
