Abstract
A controller system for detecting and matching link speeds. The present invention provides for a controller system. The controller system is a first controller and a first port. The first port is located in the first controller and has a first link speed. The first controller is adapted to match the first link speed to a second link speed of a second port of a first controlled device that is connectable to the first controller.

In a system of controllers and controlled devices, the controlled devices having link speeds that are fixed, a computer-implemented method of comparing link speeds between a first controller and a first controlled device having a first link speed, the first controller performing the computer-implemented method comprising:
- setting a second link speed of the first controller;
- comparing the first link speed of the first controlled device to the second link speed of the first controller, the first controller and the first controlled device being connected via a hub, wherein the first link speed is a fixed link speed;
- and
- responsive to the first link speed of the first controlled device being unequal to the second link speed, setting a third link speed in the first controller.
