Abstract
A monolithic piezoelectric element includes a stack, and the stack includes a crack-forming conductive layer arranged to intentionally form a small crack in the stack. The small crack alleviates stress, thereby preventing the occurrence of a large crack that may extend to the piezoelectrically active region.
Claims11
A monolithic piezoelectric element comprising:
- a stack including piezoelectric ceramic layers and internal conductive layers that are integral with each other, and external electrodes disposed on a surface of the stack;
- and
- a crack-forming conductive layer disposed inside the stack and arranged to form a crack in the stack.
