Abstract
The present invention provides the synthetic method and superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles capable of targeting to the folic acid receptors existing on the cell membranes and with high relaxivity. The iron oxide nanoparticles of the present invention can further be used as the contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Claims10
A method for preparing a magnetic particle, comprising the steps of:
- (1) providing a superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticle, a folic acid, and a polyethylene glycol;
- (2) modifying the polyethylene glycol by using triethylamine and toluene-4-sulfulenyl chloride to obtain a toluene-4-sulfulenyl polyethylene glycol;
- (3) coupling the superparamagnetic iron oxide particle with the toluene-4-sulfulenyl polyethylene glycol to obtain a coupled compound;
- and
- (4) coupling the coupled compound with the folic acid to obtain a magnetic particle.
