Abstract
Disclosed are nitric oxide delivery agents and methods of their use, more specifically to photoactive compounds, which are able to perform targeted delivery of nitric oxide in vitro and in vivo and are useful for medicinal applications including, but not limited, to blood pressure regulation and cancer treatment.
Claims26
A composition comprising a non-porphyrin metal nitrosyl that releases nitric oxide (NO) upon illumination with light of low radiant power, wherein said non-porphyrin metal nitrosyl has a formula selected from the group consisting of
- and
- wherein
- E is N, O or S,
- Na is carboxamido-N;
- M is a group 7 or group 8 transition metal in a +2, +3 or +4 oxidation state, and is not FeII.
