Abstract
A brake pad support for a model vehicle is provided, comprising a plate for supporting a brake pad on a first face, the plate having one or more ribs extending from a second face on the opposite side of the plate from the first surface, and wherein the one or more ribs stiffen the plate to distribute compressive forces applied to the second face at one or more locations.
Claims27
A brake pad support for a toy model vehicle, comprising:
- a plate for supporting a brake pad on a first face, the plate having one or more ribs extending from a second face on an opposite side of the plate from the first face;
- a cam surface on the second face of the plate for receiving a braking force;
- a pivotally mounted cam shaft, having a first surface in contact with the cam surface;
- wherein the first surface is rotatable with the cam shaft to press against the cam surface for translating rotatable movement of the first surface into linear movement of the cam surface;
- and
- wherein the one or more ribs stiffen the plate to distribute the braking force applied to the second face at one or more locations.
3 more elements
A brake assembly for a toy model vehicle, comprising:
- a shaft for transmitting torque to a toy model vehicle transmission;
- a brake disc mounted to the shaft for rotation with the shaft, wherein the brake disc is movable axially along the shaft, thereby allowing adjustment for wear;
- and
- a plate for supporting a brake pad on a first face and for applying a braking force to the brake disc;
- a cam surface on a second face of the plate for receiving the braking force;
- a pivotally mounted cam shaft, having a first surface in contact with the cam surface;
- and
- wherein the first surface is rotatable with the cam shaft to press against the cam surface and to cause
- the brake disc to slow rotation of the brake disc and the shaft.
6 more elements
A brake assembly for a toy model vehicle, comprising:
- a first brake member comprising a first plate for supporting a brake pad on a first face, the first plate having one or more ribs extending from a second face on an opposite side of the first plate from the first face;
- a brake disc mounted on a transmission drive shaft for receiving a braking force from the first plate, wherein the brake disc is rotatably coupled to the transmission drive shaft by one or more pin members, and wherein the brake disc is movable axially along the transmission drive shaft, thereby allowing adjustment for wear;
- a generally cylindrical cam shaft pivotally mounted to a housing for a transmission of the toy model vehicle, wherein the cam shaft comprises a substantially flat first surface;
- and
- a cam follower secured to the first plate and in direct contact with the first surface of the cam shaft, wherein the pivotal movement of the cam shaft presses the first surface against a convexly curved surface of the cam follower for linear movement of the first plate against the brake disc.
