Control system and apparatus for use with ultra-fast laser

A laser system comprising:

• a multi-photon intrapulse interference phase scans unit operable compensating for distortions of an amplified output, and introducing binary pulse shaping;
• software instructions operably controlling multiphoton intrapulse interference in a laser pulse;
• and
• a laser amplifier amplifying the shaped pulse from the multi-photon intrapulse interference phase scan unit.

A method of using a laser comprising:

• (a) emitting a laser pulse having a duration less than about 100 femtoseconds;
• and
• (b) correcting spectral phase distortions with the assistance of multi-photon intrapulse interference programmed instructions, after step (a);
• and
• c) amplifying the pulse, after step (b).

A laser system comprising:

• a) a laser oscillator operable to emit laser pulses;
• b) an amplifier receiving the pulses;
• c) software operably controlling multiphoton intrapulse interference in the pulses;
• and
• d) a shaper shaping the pulses, the shaper assisting in characterization and compensation of the pulses upstream of the amplifier output, the upstream location of the shaper promoting generation of a shorter pulse with minimal amplifier intensity loss.

A laser system comprising:

• a laser beam pulse;
• an amplifier;
• a pulse shaper located within the amplifier operably compensating for phase distortions in the laser beam pulse;
• and
• software instructions operable causing multiphoton intrapulse interference to be created in the laser beam pulse.

A laser system comprising:

• laser beam pulses;
• a compressor;
• a pulse shaper located within the compressor operably shaping the laser beam pulses in a calculated manner with three pulse iterations or less;
• and
• a computer program operable causing multiphoton intrapulse interference to be created in at least one of the laser beam pulses.
