Abstract
The invention is directed to methods and compositions for improving the adhesion properties and switching performance of an electrophoretic display. The methods and compositions comprise the use of a high dielectric polymer or oligomer and optionally a crosslinking agent.
Claims14
A method for improving the contrast ratio of an electrophoretic display, comprising:
- (a) filling display cells with an electrophoretic fluid comprising a first solvent,
- (b) forming a sealing layer on top of, and in contact with, the electrophoretic fluid by crosslinking functionalized polyurethane in the presence of a crosslinking agent, a second solvent and optionally a catalyst, wherein the functionalized polyurethane comprises an —OH functional group, said functionalized polyurethane has a dielectric constant higher than that of the first solvent, and said second solvent is selected from the group consisting of ketones, esters, ethers, and mixtures thereof.
