Abstract
An appliance transparency, such as an oven transparency, includes at least one substrate and a coating deposited over at least a portion of the substrate. The coating includes at least one metal layer, such as a metallic silver layer. The metal layer can have a thickness in the range of 80 Å to 100 Å and optionally or the coating can have a protective coating deposited thereon.
Claims20
An appliance transparency, comprising:
- a transparency having a first surface and a second surface;
- a first coating formed over at least a portion of the first surface, the first coating comprising at least one metal oxide layer;
- a second coating formed over at least a portion of the second surface, the second coating comprising:
- at least one dielectric layer;
- a first metallic layer;
- and
- a second metallic layer;
- and
- a protective coating formed over at least a portion of the second coating, wherein the protective coating comprises a first layer and a second layer, and wherein the first layer comprises alumina and the second layer comprises a mixture of alumina and silica.

An appliance transparency, comprising:
- a transparency having a first surface and a second surface;
- a first coating formed over at least a portion of the first surface, the first coating comprising fluorine doped tin oxide;
- a second coating formed over at least a portion of the second surface, the second coating comprising:
- a first dielectric layer;
- a first metallic layer;
- a second dielectric layer;
- and
- a second metallic layer;
- and
- a protective coating formed over at least a portion of the second coating, wherein the protective coating comprises a first layer and a second layer, and wherein the first layer consists essentially of alumina and the second layer consists essentially of a mixture of alumina and silica.

An appliance transparency, comprising:
- a transparency having a first surface and a second surface;
- a first coating formed over at least a portion of the first surface, wherein the first coating comprises at least one dielectric layer, at least one metallic layer comprising silver, and a protective coating formed over at least a portion of the first coating, and wherein the protective coating comprises a first layer consisting essentially of alumina and a second coating consisting essentially of a mixture of alumina and silica;
- a second coating formed over at least a portion of the second surface, the second coating comprising:
- a first dielectric layer;
- a first metallic layer;
- a second dielectric layer;
- and
- a second metallic layer, wherein the first and second metallic layers each comprise silver;
- and
- a protective coating formed over at least a portion of the second coating, wherein the protective coating comprises a first layer and a second layer, and wherein the first layer consists essentially of alumina and the second layer consists essentially of a mixture of alumina and silica.
