Abstract
An asymmetric field ion mobility spectrometer for filtering ions via an asymmetric electric field, an ion flow generator propulsing ions to the filter via a propulsion field.
Claims61
A system for analyzing a sample comprising:
- a first ion mobility analyzer including:
- a flow generator applying a flow generating electric field for moving ions of the sample along a trajectory, and
- a time-varying electric field applied to the moving ions for discriminating between ions of the sample.
A method for analyzing a sample comprising, generating a flow of ions of the sample using a longitudinal electric field, and directing the flow of ions of the sample through an asymmetric electric field to discriminate between species in the sample.
