Abstract
A novel inbred maize line designated PHCJP and seed, plants and plant parts thereof. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprise crossing inbred maize line PHCJP with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into PHCJP through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. Hybrid maize seed, plant or plant part produced by crossing the inbred line PHCJP or a trait conversion of PHCJP with another maize line. Inbred maize lines derived from inbred maize line PHCJP, methods for producing other inbred maize lines derived from inbred maize line PHCJP and the inbred maize lines and their parts derived by the use of those methods.
Claims33
A seed comprising at least one set of the chromosomes of maize inbred line PHCJP, representative seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-7034, wherein said chromosomes comprise all of the alleles of inbred line PHCJP at the SSR loci listed in Table 2.
An F1 hybrid maize seed comprising an inbred maize plant cell of inbred maize line PHCJP, representative seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-7034.
A process of introducing a desired trait into maize inbred line PHCJP comprising:
- (a) crossing PHCJP plants grown from PHCJP seed, representative seed of which has been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-7034, with plants of another maize line that comprise a desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants, wherein the desired trait is selected from the group consisting of waxy starch, male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, bacterial disease resistance, fungal disease resistance, and viral disease resistance;
- (b) selecting F1 progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected F1 progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the PHCJP plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait and the alleles of inbred line PHCJP at the SSR loci listed in Table 2 to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times to produce fourth or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and comprise at least 95% of the alleles of inbred line PHCJP at the SSR loci listed in Table 2.
A maize plant having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of inbred line PHCJP, wherein a sample of the seed of inbred line PHCJP was deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-7034.
