Abstract
A (co)polycarbonate the molecular structure of which contains units derived from bisphenols conforming to formulae (1a1) and (1b1) in which R1 independently of one another represents hydrogen or a C1-C10-alkyl and R2 represents C1-C10-alkyl, or phenyl or benzyl in each case unsubstituted or substituted by at least one member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C1-C10-alkyl radical. The (co)polycarbonate exhibits relatively high glass transition temperature and improved adhesion to metals.

A (co)polycarbonate the molecular structure of which contains units derived from bisphenols conforming formulae (1a1), (1b1)
- in which
- R1 independently of one another represents hydrogen or a C1-C10-alkyl radical and
- R2 represents C1-C10-alkyl, furthermore or phenyl or benzyl in each case unsubstituted or substituted by at least one member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and/or C1-C10-alkyl.
In the process of preparing (co)polycarbonates from the carbonate precursor and at least one aromatic dihydroxy compound by the phase interface process, the improvement comprising using compounds of the formulae (1a) and (1b)
- in which
- R1 independently of one another represents hydrogen or a C1-C10-alkyl radical and R2 represents C1-C10-alkyl, phenyl or benzyl radicals,
- as the aromatic dihydroxy compound
- R2 represents linear or branched C1-C10-alkyl or in each ease optionally unsubstituted or substituted phenyl or benzyl, the radicals mentioned for R1 being preferred substituents for phenyl and benzyl.
A mixture of compounds conforming to formulae (1a) and (1b)
- in which
- R1 independently of one another represents hydrogen or C1-C10-alkyl and
- R2 represents C1-C10-alkyl, furthermore phenyl or benzyl, in each case unsubstituted or substituted by at least one member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C1-C10-alkyl.
