Abstract
Described are monomeric fluorochemical surfactants having two perfluoroalkyl sulfonamido segments and two hydrophilic group, which are more efficient and effective in lowering the surface tension of organic solvents and water compared to other C4-based fluorochemical surfactants.

A compound of the formula:
- wherein
- each Rf is a fluoroalkyl group,
- R is a divalent organic linking group,
- Q is selected from —SO2N(−)(−), —(CH2)pCH(O—)(−),
- and (CH2)p—CH(O—)(CH2)pO—, where p is an integer of 1 to 11,
- Z is a hydrophilic group selected from amine oxide, sulfonate, sulfate, phosphate, and quaternary ammonium groups, and
- each n is 0 to 11.
