Abstract
A toner which is negatively charged to develop an electrostatic latent image is provided that contains a colorant; and a binder resin, wherein the toner has an acid value of from 5 to 20 mg KOH/g and an amine value of from 0.5 to 10 mg KOH/g.

A toner which is negatively charged comprising:
- a colorant;
- and
- a binder resin,
- wherein the toner has an acid value of from 5 to 20 mg KOH/g and an amine value of from 0.5 to 10 mg KOH/g,
- wherein the toner is prepared by a method comprising:
- dissolving or dispersing toner constituents comprising a resin component comprising at least one of a polymerizing monomer and a binder resin, and a tertiary amine compound, in an organic solvent to prepare a solution or a dispersion, wherein the tertiary amine compound has the following formula (I):
- and
- dispersing the solution or the dispersion in an aqueous medium.
