Abstract
A vehicle mirror assembly having a housing or base member, a mirror lens and a connecting gasket member. The mirror lens is provided in the shape of a portion of an end of an ellipsoid. The lens has a varying radius of curvature. The center portion of the lens has a smaller radius of curvature than the outer portions along the major axis of the lens creating an improved field of view of the reflected image.
Claims10
A mirror lens assembly comprising:
- a mirror lens member comprising a first base periphery, a second base periphery and a dome lens, said mirror lens member comprising a slice of a geometric shape having a minimum radius of curvature positioned in between said first base periphery and said second base periphery and a varying dome lens radius of curvature increasing from said minimum radius of curvature towards said first base periphery and said second base periphery;
- said slice being taken through an axis of said geometric shape and said slice intersecting said axis in a non-perpendicular manner.
A mirror assembly comprising:
- a mirror tens member comprising a dome lens generally configured to conform to a geometric shape formed using an ellipse, said mirror lens member comprising a first base portion and a second base portion comprising an intersection of an axis of said ellipse;
- said intersection being non-perpendicular to said axis.
A vehicle minor assembly comprising:
- a mirror lens member having a varying dome radius of curvature substantially conforming to a slice of an ellipse based geometric form, said slice taken non-perpendicular to an axis of said ellipse based geometric form.
