Device for creating a seal between fabrics or other materials

A seal for use as a closure device, comprising:

• (a) a slider comprising a lifting rib and a closure bar;
• (b) an upper seal member comprising a first mating surface and a first width W1 of runout material, the upper seal member comprising a start, a middle and an end portion, and a lifting wing on said middle portion and not on said end portion;
• and
• (c) a lower seal member comprising a second mating surface and a second width W2 of runout material, the second mating surface having a shape that interlocks with said first mating surface, the lower seal member further comprising a closure bar groove;
• wherein said first and second mating surfaces interlock, wherein said lifting wing is accessible for interaction with the lifting rib of the slider, wherein said closure bar groove is accessible for interaction with the closure bar of the slider, wherein when separating the first and second mating surfaces the closure bar of the slider anchors the lower seal member and the lifting rib of the slider contacts the lifting wing of the upper seal member to pull and separate the first mating surface from the second mating surface as the slider is moved in an opening direction, and wherein the first width W1 of runout material of the upper seal member does not overlap the second width W2 of runout material of the lower seal member when the first and second mating surfaces interlock.
