Abstract
The present invention provides an oral formulation of arsenic trioxide (As2O3) for the treatment of a variety of hematological malignancies, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). The present invention also provides methods for making the oral arsenic trioxide formulation. Methods of using the oral arsenic trioxide formulation are also described.

A method of treating hematological malignancies in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising orally administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of at least 90% pure arsenic trioxide to produce a lower peak plasma concentration with less prolongation of the QT interval and ventricular tachycardia than observed when the same amount of arsenic trioxide is administered intravenously.
