Abstract
A method for coating at least a portion of a medical device is provided. The medical device has an insulator layer overlying an electrode on the insulator layer. The method includes arranging a liquid agent on at least the portion of the medical device. The method further includes applying an electrostatic potential to the electrode and applying another electrostatic potential to the liquid agent. A medical appliance having a coating applied by a method is provided. A system is provided for applying a liquid coating to a medical device.
Claims17
A method for coating at least a portion of a medical device, the medical device having an insulator layer overlying an electrode on at least the portion of the medical device, comprising:
- arranging a liquid agent on the insulator layer, wherein the insulator layer prevents electric current flow between the liquid agent and the electrode;
- and
- applying a first electrostatic potential to the electrode and a second electrostatic potential to the liquid agent, wherein the first electrostatic potential and second electrostatic potential cause the liquid agent to flatten into a uniform coating.
