Abstract
An automated fabrication system is provided that utilizes electromagnetism to manipulate and/or sense the location of raw materials on a platform. Tools located around said platform may be utilized to fabricate a predetermined structure out of the raw materials. Tags that can be electromagnetically manipulated and sensed may be placed on passive raw materials. Structures fabricated from such a system may be, for example, a roof truss. Additionally, the fabrication system may be mobilized by way of a truck such that structures may be built on-site.
Claims70
An automated system for building a truss structure comprising:
- a first truss structure material;
- a platform having at least one magnetic tile;
- and
- a tag coupled to said first material, wherein said at least one magnetic tile electromagnetically interacts with said tag to move said first material across at least a portion of said platform, wherein said at least one magnetic tile senses the position of said tag.
An automated system for fabricating a truss structure comprising:
- a first ferromagnetic material;
- a platform having at least one magnetic tile, wherein each one of said at least one magnetic tile comprises at least two coils;
- and
- a control system for providing current to at least one of said at least two coils for sensing the position of said first ferromagnetic material and for providing current to said at least one coil for moving said first ferromagnetic material across said platform.
An automated system for fabricating a truss structure, comprising:
- a first ferromagnetic work piece;
- a platform having at least one magnetic tile for providing a magnetic field;
- and
- control circuitry for controlling said magnetic field to move said first ferromagnetic work piece into a pre-determined location for a truss fabrication-associated operation, said at least one magnetic tile being operable to sense the position of said first ferromagnetic work piece.
