Magnetic disk drive with heater to control flying height and manufacturing method thereof

A method for manufacturing a magnetic disk drive that writes/reads information to/from a magnetic disk medium by use of a magnetic head, wherein the magnetic head includes a heater that is configured to control a flying height of the magnetic head, the method comprising:

• testing a read and write performance of the magnetic head to obtain a read-and-write error rate;
• based on a result of the testing, determining a heating condition relating a performance of the magnetic head with a state of heating by the heater, wherein determining the heating condition includes comparing the error rate with at least one threshold value;
• and
• based on the determined heating condition, determining at least one control parameter that specifies an amount of heating by the heater.
