Abstract
An output regulator comprises M switch arrays, where M is an integer greater than 2. A controller selectively enables N of the M switch arrays in response to a sense signal. The sense signal is based on an output of the output regulator. The controller generates drive signals to control the N of the M switch arrays, where N is an integer greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to M. When N is greater than 0, the controller dynamically sets a phase interval between the N of the M switch arrays to one of greater than 360/N or less than 360/N.
Claims16
An output regulator comprising:
- M switch arrays, where M is an integer greater than 2;
- and
- a controller that selectively enables N of said M switch arrays in response to a sense signal, wherein said sense signal is based on an output of said output regulator, and that generates drive signals to control said N of said M switch arrays, where N is an integer greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to M,
- wherein when N is greater than 0, said controller dynamically sets a phase interval between said N of said M switch arrays to one of greater than 360/N or less than 360/N.
A method for operating an output regulator comprising:
- providing M switch arrays, where M is an integer greater than 2;
- selectively enabling N of said M switch arrays in response to a sense signal, wherein said sense signal is based on an output of said output regulator;
- generating drive signals to control said N of said M switch arrays, where N is an integer greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to M;
- and
- dynamically setting a phase interval between said N of said M switch arrays to one of greater than 360/N or less than 360/N when N is greater than 0.
