Abstract
An isolated antiviral peptide is characterized by the amino acid sequence GDEPLENYLDTEYF and a significant in vitro binding affinity for HIV-1 gp 120 and gp 41, and human CD4 cells. The peptide exhibits anti-retroviral activity in vivo, particularly anti-HIV-1 activity.
Claims7
An isolated peptide with antiviral efficacy consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, said peptide having substantial in vitro binding affinity for human immunodeficiency virus type-1 (HIV-1), gp 120, HIV-1 gp 41 and HIV-1 infected human CD4 cells.
A composition including a carrier and a peptide with antiviral efficacy, said peptide consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 and having substantial in vitro binding affinity for HIV-1 gp 120, HIV-1 gp41 and HIV-1 infected human CD4 cells.
