A display unit having a processor adapted to control display of the display unit and a communication controller capable of bi-directionally communicating with a video source. The communication controller communicates information received from the video source to the processor.

A display unit comprising:
- a processor adapted to control display of the display unit;
- and
- a communication controller capable of bi-directionally communicating with a video source;
- wherein the communication controller communicates display unit information of the display unit received from the video source to the processor.
