### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein serving comprises controlling access to the object in response to a set of information pertaining to the web request.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The method of claim 4, wherein the information specifies a source of the web request.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The method of claim 4, wherein the information specifies a referrer to the object.

### Claim 7

A method for protecting a service provider from abuse comprising:
receiving a web request for access to an object belonging the service provider;
serving the object in response to the web request in a manner that is selected to prevent the object from being used to abuse the service provider wherein serving comprises serving the object using an object format that is selected to prevent an object viewer from capturing the object by
storing the object in a database under a random unique name;
associating a static reference to the object and a set of policy variables to the random unique name;
determining whether to serve the object in response to a request that specifies the random unique name and that further specifies a set of information pertaining to the web request.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the object is used for a screening of web registrations to a computer-related service of the service provider.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, wherein serving comprises serving the object such that an appearance of the object changes over time.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the information specifies a source of the request.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the information specifies a referrer to the object.

### Claim 12

A method for protecting a service provider from abuse comprising:
receiving a web request for access to an object belonging to the service provider;
serving the object in response to the web request in a manner that is selected to prevent the object from being used to abuse the service provider wherein serving comprises serving the object using an object format that is selected to prevent an object viewer from capturing the object by
providing a set of program code in the object such that the program code generates a message that indicates a location at which the object is rendered;
sending a message to the object that disables an object viewer from rendering the object if the location is suspicious.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the object is used for a screening of web registrations to a computer-related service of the service provider.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, wherein serving comprises serving the object such that an appearance of the object changes over time.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, wherein serving comprises controlling access to the object in response to a set of information pertaining to the web request.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15, wherein the information specifies a source of the request.
