## Abstract

A machine for the orderly storage and delivery of banknotes comprises an input of banknotes (11), an output of banknotes (19), a path (12, 14, 15, 18) of sequential flow of banknotes between the input and the output, devices (13) for detecting the characteristics of the banknotes along said path and a plurality of compartments (20) for the internal storage of the banknotes. Each compartment (20) of the plurality is a sequential drum compartment and winding belts and the compartments of the plurality are divided into two series of compartments (16, 17). The internal path of the banknotes between input and output comprises a sorting section (15) along which the inputs/outputs of the two series of compartments of the plurality face each other alternately on two opposite sides, each input/output being associated to sorting means (25) that can be commanded for the deviation of the banknotes between the sorting path (15) and the compartment (20) associated.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A machine for the orderly storage and delivery of banknotes comprising:
an input of banknotes;
an output of banknotes;
an internal path for banknotes flowing between the input of banknotes and the output of banknotes;
a plurality of compartments for internal storage of the banknotes, with each compartment of the plurality being a sequential compartment having drum and winding belts, the compartments of the plurality being divided into two series of compartments having respective compartment inputs/outputs facing each other alternately on two opposite sides of a sorting section of said internal path of banknotes, each compartment input/output being associated to sorting means that can be commanded for the deviation of the banknotes between the sorting path and the associated compartment; and
wherein said internal path is a unidirectional path for sequential circulation of the banknotes in the same direction from the input of banknotes to the output of banknotes, devices for detecting the characteristics of the banknotes being present along said internal path between in the input of banknotes and the sorting section.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The machine according to claim 1 wherein the path is a basically circular path to have input and output near.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The machine according to claim 1, in wherein the sorting section is basically horizontal with the compartments of the series positioned above the sorting section and the compartments of the other series positioned below the sorting section.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The machine according to claim 3, wherein the two series of compartments are staggered, with the sorting means associated to each compartment of the series that are positioned in alternation along the sorting section with the sorting means associated to the compartments of the other series and between one sorting means and the next of the same series being present a conveyor belt that faces a sorting means of a compartment of the other series.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The machine according to claim 1, wherein the sorting means comprises an input deviator which is mobile on command between a non-operative position of free passage of a banknote along the sorting section and an operation position in which it intercepts the path of a banknote in the sorting section and deviates it towards the input of the corresponding compartment.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The machine according to claim 1, wherein the sorting means comprises an output deviator that directs a banknote in output from the corresponding compartment towards the sorting section downstream and that is elastically mobile to permit the free passage of a banknote along the corresponding sorting section.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The machine according to claim 1, wherein the input and the output and the devices for detecting the characteristics of the banknotes are contained in a head part of the machine positioned above a body part of the machine that contains the compartments and the said sorting section.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The machine according to claim 7, wherein the head part and the body part are separable from each other.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The machine according to claim 7, wherein the head part and the body part exchange banknotes through two passages respectively of input and output of the banknotes from the body part and that are positioned near the opposite ends of the head part made elongated horizontally.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The machine according to claim 9, wherein the body part comprises a first path for conveying banknotes basically vertical between input passage and beginning of the sorting section and a second path for conveying banknotes basically vertical between the end of the sorting section and output passage.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The machine according to claim 1, wherein the first compartment along the sorting section is a temporary compartment that temporarily receives the banknotes from the input that are destined to be then sent to the other compartments of the plurality.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The machine according to claim 11, wherein the banknotes are extracted from the temporary compartment after checking the condition of acceptance or non acceptance of them to be sent respectively to the other compartments or towards the output.

### Claim 13

A machine for the orderly storage and delivery of banknotes, comprising:
an input of banknotes;
an output of banknotes;
an internal path for sequential flow of banknotes between the input and output;
devices for detecting the characteristics of the banknotes along said internal path;
a plurality of compartments for internal storage of the banknotes, each compartment of the plurality being a sequential drum compartment with winding belts, the compartments of the plurality being divided into two series of compartments having respective compartment inputs/outputs facing each other alternately on two opposite sides of a sorting section of said internal path between the input of banknotes and the output of banknotes, each compartment input/output being associated to sorting means that can be commanded for the deviation of the banknotes between the sorting path and the associated compartment; and
wherein the input of banknotes and the output of banknotes are contained in a head part of the machine positioned above a body part of the machine that contains the compartments and said sorting section, the head part and the body part exchanging banknotes through two passages respectively of input of the banknotes into the body part and of output of the banknotes from the body part.
