Abstract
Process for providing a binder for mineral wool products, said process comprising the steps of: mixing together under reactive conditions a carboxylic acid with an alkanolamine, whereby optionally these are firstly mixed to provide a resin, which resin is subsequently reacted with a separate carboxylic acid group containing polymer.

A process for providing a binder for mineral wool products said process comprising the steps of:
- mixing together under reactive conditions a carboxylic acid with an alkanolamine to provide a resin, wherein the carboxylic acid is selected from a group of di, tri, or tetra, carboxylic acid having a molecular weight of about 1,000 or less, and mixtures thereof, which resin is subsequently mixed with a separate carboxylic acid group containing polymer to form a reaction mixture.
A process for providing a binder for mineral wool products, said process comprising the steps of:
- mixing together under reactive conditions a di-, tri-, or tetra-carboxylic acid having a molecular weight of about 1000 or less with a di- or tri-alkanolamine to provide a resin;
- mixing said resin with a separate carboxylic acid group containing polymer to form a binder.
A method of forming a phenol formaldehyde-free polycarboxylic acid binder solution comprising the steps of:
- mixing a di-, tri-, or tetra-carboxylic acid having a molecular weight of about 1000 or less, a di- or tri-alkanolamine, and a carboxylic acid group-containing polymer binder with agitation to form a mixture;
- heating said mixture for a period of time sufficient to form a clear, low viscous liquid having a cure temperature of 150° C.
