Abstract
The present invention relates to a novel human protein called phosphatonin, and isolated polynucleotides encoding this protein. Also provided are vectors, host cells, antibodies, and recombinant methods for producing this human protein. The invention further relates to diagnostic and therapeutic methods useful for diagnosing and treating disorders related to this novel human protein.
Claims21
A vector comprising the polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide having phosphatonin activity.
An isolated host cell transformed with, and comprising, an operative polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide having phosphatonin activity, and progeny thereof comprising said operative polynucleotide.
A method of diagnosing a pathological condition or a susceptibility to a pathological condition in a subject related to a disorder of phosphate metabolism, comprising:
- (a) determining the presence or amount of expression of the polypeptide having phosphatonin activity in a biological sample;
- and
- (b) diagnosing a pathological condition or a susceptibility to a pathological condition based on the presence or amount of expression of the polypeptide.
