Abstract
In an inventive stent (10), helical filaments (12, 13) are disposed on a first tubular layer (11). The helical filaments (12, 13) are mutually phase-shifted such that they do not touch and lie in one plane. The helical filaments (12, 13) are completely coated by a second elastic tubular polymer layer (14) which is connected to the first elastic tubular layer (11). Further helical filaments may be disposed on the second elastic tubular layer (14). The inventive stent can be lengthened for introduction into a hollow organ and is self-expanding.
Claims15
Self-expanding stent for splinting and/or keeping open a hollow organ, the stent comprising:
- a first elastic tubular layer;
- a first filament layer consisting essentially of several first nonintersecting helical filaments disposed in a phase-shifted fashion and a spaced apart relationship in one plane on the first elastic tubular layer, wherein the several first helical filaments do not intersect with any filaments in the one plane;
- a second elastic tubular layer coating the several first helical filaments, the second elastic tubular layer being connected at least at ends thereof with the first elastic tubular layer in a material-bonding fashion for fixing a position of the first helical filaments;
- a second filament layer comprising at least one second helical filament disposed on the first helical filaments outside of a plane spanned by the first helical filaments;
- and
- a third elastic tubular layer coating the at least one second helical filament, the third elastic tubular layer comprising a polymer connected to the second elastic tubular layer.
Self-expanding stent for splinting and/or keeping open a hollow organ, the stent comprising:
- a first elastic tubular layer;
- a filament layer consisting essentially of several first helical filaments disposed in a phase-shifted fashion and a spaced apart relationship in one plane on the first elastic tubular layer, wherein the several first helical filaments in the one plane of the filament layer are nonintersecting filaments;
- a second elastic tubular layer coating the several first helical filaments, the second elastic tubular layer being connected at least at ends thereof with the first elastic tubular layer in a material-bonding fashion for fixing a position of the several first helical filaments;
- at least one second helical filament disposed above the several first helical filaments outside of the one plane spanned by the several first helical filaments;
- and
- a third elastic tubular layer coating the at least one second helical filament, the third elastic tubular layer comprising a polymer connected to the second elastic tubular layer.
