Abstract
Data regarding physical parameters and security and commands to send such data can be communicated between a memory device and a memory controller using a memory bus connected between the two. In one embodiment, the invention includes receiving a first command at a memory device on a memory bus, the first command being other than a read or write command, and receiving a second command together with the first command, the second command to be initiated using lines that are not used by the first command.
Claims19
A method comprising:
- receiving a first command at a memory device on command lines of a memory bus, the first command being other than a read or write command, the memory bus having separate command lines, address lines, and data lines;
- and
- receiving a second command together with the first command, the second command being received on the address lines of the memory bus, the address lines not being used by the first command.
An article including a machine-readable medium containing data, that when executed by the machine, causes the machine to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a first command at a memory device on command lines of a memory bus, the first command being other than a read or write command, the memory bus having separate command lines, address lines, and data lines;
- and
- receiving a second command together with the first command, the second command being received on the address lines of the memory bus, the address lines not being used by the first command.
An apparatus comprising:
- a memory device coupled to a memory bus, the memory bus having separate command lines, address lines, and data lines to receive a first command on the command lines of the memory bus, the first command being other than a read or write command;
- and
- a temperature sensor control block to receive a second command, the second command to be sent together with the first command on the address lines of the memory bus, the address lines not being used by the first command.
An apparatus comprising:
- a memory controller;
- a memory bus coupled to the memory controller, the memory bus having separate command lines, address lines, and data lines;
- and
- a memory device coupled to the memory bus to receive commands from the memory controller over the memory bus,
- wherein the memory controller is to send a first command using the command lines of the memory bus and a second command together with the first command to the memory device, the second command to be sent using the address lines of the memory bus, the address lines not being used by the first command.
