Abstract
Apparatus and methods for performing quantum computations are disclosed. Such apparatus and methods may include identifying a first quantum state of a lattice having a system of quasi-particles disposed thereon, moving the quasi-particles within the lattice according to at least one predefined rule, identifying a second quantum state of the lattice after the quasi-particles have been moved, and determining a computational result based on the second quantum state of the lattice.

A method for performing quantum computation, the method comprising:
- identifying a first quantum state of a lattice having a system of non-Abelian anyons disposed thereon, the lattice comprising a system of real particles, the non-Abelian anyons being excitations of least energy states of the system of real particles that form the lattice, wherein each of the non-Abelian anyons is associated with a respective initial position in the lattice;
- moving the non-Abelian anyons within a 2D+1 space-time of the lattice;
- identifying a second quantum state of the lattice after the non-Abelian anyons have been moved;
- and
- determining a computational result based on the first and second quantum states of the lattice.
A method for performing quantum computation, the method comprising:
- providing a lattice comprising a system of real particles, the lattice having disposed thereon a system of non-Abelian anyons, the non-Abelian anyons being excitations of least energy states of the system of real particles that form the lattice, wherein each of the non-Abelian anyons is associated with a respective initial position in the lattice;
- moving at least one of a plurality of non-Abelian anyons within a 2D+1 space-time of the lattice to form a braid in the space-time of the lattice;
- and
- determining a computational result based on the braid.
