Abstract
A method of using an apparatus for producing electric power or mechanical drive in which fuel gas produced in a gasifier using air as an oxidant is supplied to the gasifier by extraction from the exit of the air compressor of a gas turbine.

An apparatus for producing electric power or mechanical drive using fuel gas produced in a gasifier using air as an oxidant, wherein the air is supplied to the gasifier by extraction from the exit of a gas turbine air compressor, wherein the air for the gasifier is first passed though an expansion device to reduce its pressure to that required for it to enter the gasifier.
