Abstract
A wastewater treatment system including a biological reactor is disclosed. At least one controlled-reaction-volume module is provided to the biological reactor. The at least one controlled-reaction-volume module includes a fixed-film media for supporting a biological growth. At least one mixer, such as, for example, a high momentum mixer, for communicate a fluid to the at least one controlled-reaction-volume module so that wastewater and the biological growth communicate to thereby treat the wastewater.
Claims49
A module usable in a biological reactor of a wastewater treatment system, the module comprising:
- a) at least one fixed fixed-film media for supporting a biological growth within the at least one module;
- b) a frame capable of supporting the at least one fixed fixed-film media;
- c) a foraminous vertical partition surrounding the frame;
- and
- d) at least one mixer capable of communicating a fluid to the at least one fixed fixed-film media of the at least one module so as to be capable of removing excess biological growth from the at least one fixed fixed-film media.
A module usable in a biological reactor of a wastewater treatment system, the module comprising:
- a) at least one fabric fixed-film media for supporting a biological growth within the at least one module;
- b) a frame capable of supporting the at least one fabric fixed-film media;
- c) a foraminous vertical partition surrounding the frame;
- and
- d) at least one mixer below the at least one module so as to be capable of periodically upwardly communicating a fluid through and in fluid communication with the at least one fabric fixed-film media of the at least one module so as to be capable of removing excess biological growth from the at least one fixed fixed-film media.
A module usable in a biological reactor of a wastewater treatment system, the module comprising:
- a) at least one webbed fabric fixed-film media for supporting a biological growth within the at least one module;
- b) a frame capable of supporting the at least one webbed fabric fixed-film media;
- c) a foraminous vertical partition surrounding the frame;
- and
- d) at least one mixer below the at least one module so as to be capable of periodically upwardly communicating a fluid through and in fluid communication with the at least one webbed fabric fixed-film media of the at least one module so as to be capable of removing excess biological growth from the at least one fixed fixed-film media.
