Abstract
The invention relates to a procedure for manufacturing alumina hydrates by precipitating aluminum salts in the presence of crystal nuclei of a specific size.
Claims11
A procedure for manufacturing boehmite and/or pseudo-boehmite comprising:
- precipitating boehmite and/or pseudo-boehmite from an aqueous medium containing crystal nuclei of alumina in the presence of a precipitating agent selected from the group consisting of basic aluminum salts, acidic aluminum salts and mixtures thereof, said nuclei being present in an amount of 0.1 to 5% w/w of said precipitated boehmite and/or pseudo-boehmite calculated as Al2O3, said crystal nuclei having an average diameter of 20 to 150 nm.
A procedure for manufacturing boehmite and/or pseudo boehmite comprising:
- precipitating boehmite and/or pseudo-boehmite from an aqueous medium containing an organic polymer/oligomer which form lattices in said aqueous medium, in the presence of a compound selected from the group consisting of basic aluminum salts, acidic aluminum salts and mixtures thereof, said polymer/oligomer being present in an amount of 0.1 to 5% w/w of the precipitated boehmite and/or pseudo-boehmite, calculated as Al2O3, said polymer/oligomer having an average diameter of 12 to 250 nm and being selected from the group consisting of polyacrylic acids, polymethacrylic acids, polyacrylates, polystyrenes, polyvinylacetates, polyvinylversalates, their co-polymers and mixtures thereof.
