Abstract
A liquid crystal composition having a nematic phase and containing at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (1) as a first component and at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (2-1) or (2-2) as a second component: wherein R1 is alkyl or alkenyl; R2 and R3 are independently; Z1 and Z2 are independently a single bond or ethylene; Y1 is fluorine or chlorine; and X1 and X2 are independently hydrogen or fluorine.
Claims24
A liquid crystal composition having a nematic phase comprising at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (1) as a first component and at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (2-1) or (2-2) as a second component:
- wherein R1 is alkyl having 1 to 12 carbons or alkenyl having 2 to 12 carbons;
- R2 and R3 are independently alkyl having 1 to 12 carbons;
- Z1 and Z2 are independently a single bond or ethylene;
- Y1 is fluorine or chlorine;
- and X1 and X2 are independently hydrogen or fluorine.
A liquid crystal composition having a nematic phase consisting essentially of at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (1) as a first component, at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (2-1) and at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (2-2) as a second component, and at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (3-1) or (3-2) as a third component:
- wherein R1 is alkyl having 1 to 12 carbons or alkenyl having 2 to 12 carbons;
- R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 are independently alkyl having 1 to 12 carbons;
- A is 1,4-cyclohexylene or 1,4-phenylene;
- Z1 and Z2 are independently a single bond or ethylene;
- Y1 is fluorine or chlorine;
- and X1, X2, X3, X4, X5 and X6 are independently hydrogen or fluorine.
A liquid crystal composition having a nematic phase comprising at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (1) as a first component, at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (2-1) and at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (2-2) as a second component, at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (3-1) or (3-2) as a third component and at least one compound selected from a group of compounds represented by formula (4) as a fourth component:
- wherein R1 is alkyl having 1 to 12 carbons or alkenyl having 2 to 12 carbons;
- R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 are independently alkyl having 1 to 12 carbons;
- A is 1,4-cyclohexylene or 1,4-phenylene;
- Z1 and Z2 are independently a single bond or ethylene;
- X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7 are independently hydrogen or fluorine;
- Y1 is fluorine or chlorine;
- and Y2 is fluorine or trifluoromethoxy.
