Abstract
A squash plant having high level geminivirus resistance and a method for developing a squash plant having high resistance to geminvirus.
Claims67
A squash plant having high resistance to a geminivirus, wherein said plant is produced by growing the seed of squash line Entry 8, a sample of seed of said line having been deposited under Accession no. PTA-6962.
Seed of an inbred squash line designated Entry 1, a sample of the seed having been deposited with the ATCC as Accession No. PTA-6961.
Seed of an inbred squash line designated ZGN 47-5012, a sample of the seed having been deposited with the ATCC as Accession No. PTA-6960.
Seed of an inbred squash line designated Entry 8, a sample of the seed having been deposited with the ATCC as Accession No. PTA-6962.
A method for developing a squash plant having high resistance to SLCV, the method comprising the steps of:
- a) crossing a first squash plant having intermediate resistance to SLCV with a second squash plant having intermediate or high resistance to potyvirus;
- and
- b) performing one or more selection and crossing steps to develop a squash plant having high resistance to SLCV.
A squash plant comprising resistance to geminivirus and potyvirus, wherein at least 75% of a plurality of plants in said squash line have a geminivirus resistance score of 1 or 2 and potyvirus resistance score of 3, and wherein said plant is produced by growing seed of squash line Entry 8, a sample of seed of said line have been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-6962.
A squash plant having resistance to geminivirus, wherein said resistance is an intermediate level of resistance, wherein said plant is produced by growing seed of squash line Entry 1, a sample of the seed have been deposited with ATCC Accession No. PTA-6961.
