Abstract
The present invention provides methods of using antibodies that bind a TSG101 protein to inhibit or reduce viral production. The invention also provides methods of using the TSG101 antibodies for the treatment of viral infections, including HIV infection. The invention further provides methods of detecting viral infected cells using TSG101 antibodies.
Claims6
A method for inhibiting virus budding by an enveloped virus in a mammal, comprising administering to said mammal a therapeutically effective amount of an antibody, wherein said antibody that binds a TSG 101 protein and wherein said antibody binds an epitope in a region selected from the group consisting of VRETVNVITLYKDLKPVL (SEQ ID NO:2) and QLRALMQKARKTAGLSDLY (SEQ ID NO:3), whereby viral budding by said enveloped virus is inhibited.
