Supported polyoxometalates and process for their preparation

Supported polyoxometalates represented by the formula

• (An)m+[M4(H2O)10(XW9O33)2]m−
• or solvates thereof, wherein
• A represents a cation,
• n is the number of cation,
• m is the charge of the polyoxoanion,
• M is a transition metal, and
• X is an element selected from the group consisting of As, Sb, Bi, Se, and Te,
• wherein the polyoxometalate is supported on a solid support, and the solid support is SBA-15 , having a surface modified with an amine compound of formula
• (R1O)3Y(CH2)xNR22,
• wherein
• R1 is alkyl,
• Y is carbon or silicon,
• x is 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12, and
• R2 is hydrogen, alkyl or aryl.

Supported polyoxometalates represented by the formula

• (An)m+[M4(H2O)10(XW9O33)2]m−
• or solvates thereof, wherein
• A represents a cation,
• n is the number of cations,
• m is the charge of the polyoxoanion,
• M is a transition metal, and
• X is an element selected from the group consisting of As, Sb, and Bi,
• wherein the polvoxometalate is supported on a solid support selected from the group consisting of Al2O3, MgO, TiO2, SiO2, mesoporous silica, active carbon, diatomite, clays, zeolites, polyoxometalate salts and mixtures thereof, with the proviso that the polyoxometalate salt supports are different from the supported polyoxometalates defined by the above formula.

Supported polyoxometalates represented by the formula

• (An)m+[M4(H2O)10(XW9O33)2]m−
• or solvates thereof, wherein
• A represents a cation,
• n is the number of cations,
• m is the charge of the polyoxoanion,
• M is a transition metal, and
• X is an element selected from the group consisting of Se and Te,
• wherein the polyoxometalate is supported on a solid support selected from the group consisting of Al2O3, MgO, TiO2, SiO2, mesoporous silica, active carbon, diatomite, clays, zeolites, polyoxometalate salts and mixtures thereof, with the proviso that the polyoxometalate salt supports are different from the supported polyoxometalates defined by the above formula.

A process for the preparation of supported polyoxometalates represented by the formula (A):

• (An)m+[M4(H2O)10(XW9O33)2]m−
• or solvates thereof, wherein
• A represents a cation,
• n is the number of cations,
• m is the charge of the polyoxoanion,
• M is a transition metal, and
• X is an element selected from the group consisting of As, Sb, Bi, Se and Te, said process comprising
• (a) mixing a solid support selected from the group consisting of Al2O3, MgO, TiO2, ZrO2, SiO2, mesoporous silica, active carbon, diatomite, clays, zeolites, polyoxometalate salts and mixtures thereof, with a solution of (An)m+[M4(H2O)10(XW9O33)2]m−,
• (b) stirring and optionally heating the mixture of step (a),
• (c) optionally filtering the mixture of step (b), and
• (d) recovering the supported polyoxometalate;
• provided that the solid supports are different from the supported polyoxometalates defined by the above formula (A).
