Abstract
Methods and compositions for modulating development and defense responses are provided. Nucleotide sequences encoding defensin proteins are provided. The sequences can be used in expression cassettes for modulating development, developmental pathways, and defense responses. Transformed plants, plant cells, tissues, and seed are also provided.
Claims16
An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence that encodes a polypeptide that has defensin-like activity, wherein said polypeptide comprises an amino acid sequence that has at least 95 percent sequence identity to the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 24.
A method for enhancing disease resistance in a plant, said method comprising transforming said plant with at least one nucleotide construct comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide having at least 95% sequence identity to the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:24 operably linked to a promoter that drives expression in a plant, and regenerating said transformed plant.
