Abstract
A method for removing a pollutant from emissions or the environment comprising: contacting a mineral ore or the use of a mineral ore selected from the group consisting of bauxite, modified bauxite and mixtures thereof. Typically, the pollutant is a heavy metal or a microorganism.
Claims6
A method for treating water, sediment or soil containing pollutants by the step of contacting pollutant-containing water, sediment, fractured rock or soil with a multi-functional sequestration agent comprising bauxite in it relatively natural form, wherein said bauxite is installed as a subsurface mineral ore barrier.
A method for treating water, sediment or soil containing pollutants by the step of contacting pollutant-containing water, sediment, fractured rock or soil with a multi-functional sequestration agent comprising bauxite in its relatively natural form, wherein said bauxite is in a permeable barrier, and wherein said permeable barrier is installed in the path of groundwater flow.
A method for treating water, sediment or soil containing pollutants by the step of contacting the pollutant-containing water, fractured rock or soil with a multi-functional sequestration agent comprising bauxite in its relatively natural form, wherein said water is groundwater.
A method for removing or inactivating microorganisms in an emission or in the environment comprising contacting the microorganisms with a mineral selected from bauxite, cooper ores, and mixtures thereof, wherein if the mineral is bauxite it is installed as a subsurface mineral ore barrier.
A method for removing or inactivating microorganisms in an emission or in the environment comprising contacting the microorganisms with a mineral selected from bauxite, copper ores, and mixtures thereof, wherein if bauxite is used it is in a permeable barrier, which is installed in the path of groundwater flow.
A method for removing or inactivating microorganisms in an emission or in the environment in groundwater comprising contacting the microorganisms with a mineral selected from bauxite, copper ores, and mixtures thereof.
