Abstract
The disclosure is directed to a method of forming a seal device. The method includes forming a laminate construction including a flexible material layer and a rigid material layer, patterning the rigid material layer after forming the laminate construction, and shape forming the laminate construction into the seal device.
Claims18
A method of forming a seal device, the method comprising:
- forming a laminate construction including a flexible material layer and a rigid material layer;
- patterning the rigid material layer after forming the laminate construction to provide the rigid material layer with an inner edge and an outer edge, the inner and outer edges having contours defining distances from a center point of the laminate construction that change with angular position;
- and
- shape forming the laminate construction into the seal device.

A method of forming a seal device, the method comprising:
- laminating a polymeric material layer to a metallic sheet to form a laminated construction;
- pattering the metallic sheet and not substantially patterning the polymeric material layer after laminating the polymeric material layer to the metallic sheet to provide the metallic sheet with an inner edge and an outer edge, the inner and outer edges having contours defining distances from a center point of the laminated construction that change with angular position;
- and
- shape forming the laminated construction into the seal device.

- patterning the rigid material layer after forming the laminate construction to form a plurality of independent rigid tines arranged in a pattern around a center point of the laminate construction and angularly spaced from one another;
