Abstract
A method of decoding character strings within a message to reference data is provided. The method includes receiving the message to reference the data transmitted by an object carousel, wherein the message is a broadcast inter ORB protocol (BIOP) message, determining information regarding an encoding system used to encode the character strings within the message; and decoding the character strings according to the information which is determined.

A method of decoding character strings within a message to reference data, the method comprising:
- receiving the message to reference the data transmitted by an object carousel, wherein the message is broadcast inter object request broker (ORB) protocol (BIOP)::
- ServiceGateway message;
- extracting from a general inter ORB protocol (GIOP) Code Set Service Context in the BIOP::ServiceGateway message, information regarding an encoding system used to encode the character strings within the BIOP message;
- and
- decoding the character strings according to the information which is extracted, wherein the character strings are common object request broker architecture (CORBA) strings defined according to CORBA/IIOP.
