Abstract
A fuser member adapted to fuse toner onto the surface of a recording medium as the recording medium passes a nip area of the fuser member comprises a electrically conductive polymer layer, a resistive layer, and an electrically conductive layer. The fuser member further comprises a current supply element and a current return element, wherein the current supply element and the current return element are configured to provide current flow through the electrically conductive polymer layer and the resistive layer to generate fusing heat at the nip area.
Claims20
A fuser member adapted to fuse toner on the surface of a recording medium passing a nip area of the fuser member, comprising:
- a continuous electrically conductive polymer layer comprising conductive filler;
- a resistive layer;
- an electrically conductive layer;
- and
- a current supply element and a current return element, the current supply element and current return element being operable to provide current flow through the electrically conductive polymer layer and the resistive layer to generate fusing heat at the nip area.
A fuser unit adapted to fuse toner on the surface of a recording medium comprising:
- a fuser member comprising a continuous electrically conductive polymer layer comprising conductive filler, a resistive layer, an electrically conductive layer, a current supply element, and a current return element, the current supply element and current return element being operable to provide current flow through the electrically conductive polymer layer and the resistive layer in order to generate fusing heat at the nip area;
- and
- a backup roll adjacent the nip area.
