Abstract
A Network Interface Card (NIC) for attaching data terminal equipment to a communications network. The NIC includes a Phase Lock Loop (PLL) with a master delay structure that is operatively coupled to at least one delay line structure. The PLL generates control pulses at precise delayed intervals that are used to gate data through said at least one delay line structure.
Claims13
A Network Interface Card (NIC) for coupling a device to a communications network including:
- a system interface section with functional circuits that process information so that said information can be received and forwarded to a system bus;
- a Medium Access Controller (MAC) storing and executing Medium Access Layer functions wherein information is being transferred or received in accordance with a predetermined protocol;
- and
- a Network Interface section including a receiver and a signal generator;
- said signal generator including a Phase Lock Loop (PLL) with a master delay line system operatively coupled to at least one replica delay line system wherein said PLL generating equally spaced pulses that gate data signal through said replica delay line system.
