Aryl acid pyrimidinyl methyl amides, pyridazinyl methyl amides and related compounds

A compound having the formula:

• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein:
• Ar represents phenyl, naphthyl or a 5- to 10-membered heteroaryl group, each of which is substituted with from 0 to 4 groups independently selected from R8;
• R1 is independently chosen at each occurrence from:
• (a) hydrogen, halogen, nitro and cyano;
• and
• (b) groups of the formula:
• wherein:
• G is a bond, C1—C4alkyl, —N(RB)—, —O—, —C(═O)—, —C(═O)N(RB)—, —N(RB)C(═O)—, —S(O)m—, —CH2C(═O)—, —S(O)mN(RB)— or —N(RB)S(O)m—;
• wherein m is 0, 1 or 2;
• and
• RA and each RB are independently selected from:
• (i) hydrogen;
• and
• (ii) C1-C8alkyl, C2-C8alkenyl, (C3-C8carbocycle)C0-C4alkyl and (3- to 8-membered heterocycle)C0-C4alkyl, each of which is substituted with from 0 to 4 substituents independently selected from halogen, hydroxy, nitro, cyano, amino, C1-C4alkyl, C1-C4alkoxy, C1-C4alkanoyl, mono- and di(C1-C4alkyl)amino, C1-C4haloalkyl and C1-C4haloalkoxy;
• R4 is hydroxy, nitro, cyano, amino, C1-C8alkyl, C2-C8alkenyl, C2-C8alkynyl, C3-C7cycloalkyl, C1-C8haloalkyl, C1-C8alkoxy, C1-C8haloalkoxy, C2-C8alkyl ether, C2-C8haloalalkyl ether, or mono- or di-(C1-C8alkyl)amino(C0-C4alkyl);
• R5 and R6 are independently hydrogen, methyl or ethyl;
• R7 represents C1-C8alkyl, C2-C8alkenyl, (C3-C7cycloalkyl)C0-C4alkyl, or benzyl that is substituted with from 0 to 3 substituents independently chosen from halogen, nitro, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, cyano and hydroxy;
• and
• R8 is independently selected at each occurrence from halogen, hydroxy, nitro, cyano, amino, C1-C8alkyl, C2-C8alkenyl, C1-C8alkynyl, (C3-C7cycloalkyl)C0-C8alkyl, C1-C8haloalkyl, C1-C8alkoxy, (C3-C7cycloalkyl)C1-C8alkoxy, C1-C8haloalkoxy, C2-C8alkyl ether, C3-C8alkanone, C1-C8alkanoyl, (3- to 7-membered heterocycloalkyl)C0-C8alkyl, C1-C8hydroxyalkyl, C1-C8aminoalkyl, and mono- and di-(C1-C8alkyl)aminoC0-C8alkyl.
