Abstract
A high reliability and low power consumption anti-lock brake system is disclosed in the present invention. The two pilot valves in the present invention are controlled so as not to be energized concurrently. The secondary battery of the anti-lock brake system is charged by power supply and/or generator. An electric double layer capacitor comprising a housing made of functionally graded aluminum-ceramic material is used as the secondary battery.
Claims17
An anti-lock brake system for a trailer hauled by a motor-powered car having a brake command output unit that outputs a brake command, the anti-lock brake system comprising:
- (A) a braking force generating unit configured to generate braking force to a plurality of wheels of the trailer, the braking force being generated by a fluid;
- (B) an anti-skid valve configured to relax the braking force generated by the braking force generating unit;
- (C) a plurality of skid detection units, each configured to one of the plurality of skid detection units configured to detect skid of the wheels to which the respective one of the plurality of skid detection units is installed;
- (D) an anti-skid brake system controller configured to output a command instructing relaxation of the braking force to the anti-skid valve on the basis of a signal from the skid detection unit;
- (E) a secondary battery configured to provide electric power to the braking force generating unit, the plurality of skid detection units, and the anti-skid brake system controller;
- and
- (F) a generator configured to charge the secondary battery;
- the generator being installed on at least one of the plurality of wheels and generating power in response to the rotation of the one of the plurality of wheels, the secondary battery being charged by power generated by the generator.
An anti-lock brake control method for vehicles including (A) an anti-skid valve having (A-1) a two-way valve comprising a first pilot valve whose operation mode is normally-open or normally-closed and a first main valve whose operation mode is different from that of the first pilot valve and (A-2) a three-way valve connected serially to the two-way valve comprising a second pilot valve whose operation mode is normally-open or normally-closed and a second main valve whose operation mode is different from that of the first pilot valve, (B) a plurality of wheels, and (C) an actuator for applying braking force to the plurality of wheels, the method comprising:
- generating braking force;
- calculating a parameter showing whether a wheel is skidding;
- determining whether the parameter exceeds a predetermined value;
- outputting during a first predetermined duration a first signal for causing the first pilot valve to be de-energized and the second pilot valve to be energized when the parameter is determined to exceed the predetermined value;
- outputting during a second predetermined duration a second signal for causing the first pilot valve to be energized and the second pilot valve to be de-energized after the outputting of the first signal is finished;
- outputting a third signal for causing both the first pilot valve and the second pilot valve to be de-energized after the outputting of the first signal is finished when the parameter is determined not to exceed the predetermined value.
