Abstract
A fault current limiter (FCL) comprises: an air core flat clock spiral inductor comprising wound electrically conductive material and insulated turns; and two terminations configured for attaching the spiral inductor in series with a power carrying conductor.

A fault current limiter (FCL) comprising:
- an air core flat clock spiral inductor comprising wound electrically conductive material and insulated turns configured for providing inductive impedance;
- two terminations of the FCL configured for attaching the spiral inductor in series with a power carrying conductor.
A fault current limiter (FCL) comprising:
- an air core flat clock spiral inductor comprising wound electrically conductive material and insulated turns, wherein the wound electrically conductive material includes radially extending fins;
- two terminations of the FCL configured for attaching the spiral inductor in series with a power carrying conductor.
A fault current limiter (FCL) comprising:
- an air core flat clock spiral inductor comprising wound electrically conductive material and insulated turns, each inductor configured for providing inductive impedance, wherein the wound electrically conductive material comprises stranded electrically conductive material;
- two terminations of the FCL configured for attaching the spiral inductor in series with a power carrying conductor.
A fault current limiter (FCL) comprising:
- three air core flat clock spiral inductors, each inductor comprising a cylindrically wound sheet comprising copper and a insulation layer on at least one surface of the copper, each inductor configured for being attached in series with a busway, each inductor configured for providing inductive impedance;
- a housing surrounding the three air core spiral inductors, the housing comprising wall;
- and
- at least one cooling unit of the FCL configured for providing cooling air the three spiral inductors.
