Claims16
A composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient and a compound having the formula
- or the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein
- the subscript i is an integer of from 2 to 3, and in each ring having an X1, X2, and X3, one of X1, X2, and X3 is a ring vertex independently selected from the group consisting of —O—, —S—, and —NR2—, and the other two of X1, X2, and X3 are ring vertices independently selected from the group consisting of ═N— and ═CR1—;
- Z is O or N;
- n is 1 if Z is O and 2 if Z is N;
- each R1 is independently H, F, Cl, Br, I, CN, OH, NO2, NH2, a substituted or unsubstituted (C1–C12)alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted (C1–C12)alkoxy group, or a substituted or unsubstituted (C1–C12)heteroalkyl group;
- each R2 is independently H, a substituted or unsubstituted (C1–C12)alkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted (C1–C12)heteroalkyl group;
- or optionally, the group -Z(R2)n is selected from the group consisting of
- wherein each subscript r is independently an integer of from 2 to 8 and each R25 is independently selected from the group consisting of H, CH3, CH2CH3, CH2CH2CH3 and CH(CH3)2;
- and
- each R5 is independently H, F, Cl, Br, I, CN, OH, NH2, N(CH3)2, a substituted or unsubstituted (C1–C12)alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted (C1–C12)alkoxy group, or a substituted or unsubstituted (C1–C12)heteroalkyl group;
- or optionally two adjacent R5 groups are combined to form O—(CH(R7))t—O, where t is 1 or 2 and each R7 is independently H or a C1–C6 alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, or acyl group;
- said compound having a basic group having a pKb of 12 or less or a quaternized nitrogen group.
