Abstract
A system and process for treating water are described. Water may be purified by passing feed water through an electrochemical deionization device. The water may be suitable for cooking, washing, and beverage production.
Claims60
A method of purifying water comprising:
- providing feed water into an electrochemical purification device;
- controlling hardness of the water from the electrochemical purification device to a hardness level in a range of 5 ppm-100 ppm as CaCO3;
- controlling alkalinity of the water from the electrochemical purification device to an alkalinity level in a range of 10 ppm-100 ppm as CaCO3;
- and
- supplying the water of controlled alkalinity and reduced hardness as purified water for human consumption.
2 more elements
A method for purifying water for beverage production comprising the steps of:
- supplying feed water to an electrodeionization device to produce a purified water stream;
- regulating one or more process conditions of the electrodeionization device in response to a water quality of at least one of a concentrate water stream from the electrodeionization device, the feed water, and the purified water stream;
- and
- feeding at least a portion of the purified water stream to a beverage production device.
1 more element
A method of producing a beverage comprising acts of:
- introducing feed water into an electrochemical water purification device;
- applying an electric current through the electrochemical water purification device to produce a purified water stream having a desired hardness;
- adjusting at least one operating condition of the electrochemical water purification device to raise the alkalinity of the purified water stream to a desired alkalinity;
- and
- adding a syrup concentrate to at portion of the purified water stream to produce the beverage.
