Honeycomb structure

An aggregated-type honeycomb structural body comprising:

• a plurality of honeycomb structural bodies bounded with one another, the honeycomb structural bodies each having a plurality of large-capacity through holes and a plurality of small-capacity through holes extending in parallel in a length direction and having a polygonal shape and a first chamfered corner portion in a cross section perpendicular to the length direction,
• wherein the large-capacity through holes are sealed at one end of the plurality of honeycomb structural bodies, the small-capacity through holes are sealed at the other end of the plurality of honeycomb structural bodies, and the large-capacity through holes has a total cross-section area which is larger than a total cross-section area of the small-capacity structural bodies, and
• the honeycomb structural bodies each have a through hole located adjacent to the first chamfered corner portion, the through hole having in the cross-section a second chamfered corner portion corresponding to the first chamfered corner portion of the respective honeycomb structural body.

A filter for an exhaust gas purifying apparatus for a vehicle, comprising:

• an aggregate-type honeycomb structural body comprising a plurality of honeycomb structural bodies bounded one another, the honeycomb structural bodies each having a plurality of large-capacity through holes and a plurality of small-capacity through holes extending in parallel in a length direction and having a chamfered corner portion in a cross section perpendicular to the length direction,
• wherein the large-capacity through holes are sealed at one end of the plurality of honeycomb structural bodies, the small-capacity through holes are sealed at the other end of the plurality of honeycomb structural bodies, and the large-capacity through holes have a total cross-section area which is larger than a total cross-section area of the small-capacity through holes.

A filter for an exhaust gas purifying apparatus for a vehicle, comprising:

• an aggregate-type honeycomb structural body comprising a plurality of honeycomb structural bodies bounded with one another, the honeycomb structural bodies each having a plurality of large-capacity through holes and a plurality of small-capacity through holes extending in parallel in a length direction and having a polygonal shape and a first chamfered corner portion in a cross section perpendicular to the length direction,
• wherein the large-capacity through holes are sealed at one end of the plurality of honeycomb structural bodies, the small-capacity through holes are sealed at the other end of the plurality of honeycomb structural bodies, and the large-capacity through holes have a total cross-section area which is larger than a total cross-section area of the small-capacity through holes, and
• the honeycomb structural bodies each have a through hole located adjacent to the first chamfered corner portion, the through hole having in the cross-section a second chamfered corner portion corresponding to the first chamfered corner portion of the respective honeycomb structural body.
